Gayatri Spivak - (1942- ) Indian literary critic and theorist, best known for the article "Can the Subaltern Speak?" (considered a founding text of postcolonialism), and her translation of Jacques Derrida's “Of Grammatology”.

Angela Davis - (1944- ) civil rights activist, famous for her involvement with the Black Panthers, the Communist Party, and for being the 3rd woman to make the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted List.

Laurie Weeks - writer and performer. Author of ‘Zipper Mouth’.

Dorothy Allison - (1949- ) author of the much celebrated novel ‘Bastard Out of Carolina’. Themes in her work include class struggle, child and sexual abuse, feminism, lesbianism, and the family. She is involved with PEN, the National Coalition Against Censorship, and Feminists for Free Expression. She is one of the founders of the Lesbian Sex Mafia.
